Rotary Club of Kolhapur, part of Rotary International District 3170, had a busy July 2026 after preparing for the whole year. The club’s work this year follows the Rotary International theme for 2026-27: Creating Lasting Impact. From donating blood to planting trees and helping children in need, every project this month aimed to leave Kolhapur a little better than before.

Here is a simple, date-wise look at what the club did and why it matters.

Quick Summary

In July 2026, Rotary Club of Kolhapur collected over 70 pints of blood, planted more than 50 trees, donated 150 kg of groceries to children at Baalgram, gave $5,025 to Rotary’s global funds, inducted 14 new members, and launched an e-waste collection project at a local school. These projects support the club’s goal of Creating Lasting Impact in Kolhapur.

1 July 2026: Blood Donation Camp

The club started the Rotary year by saving lives. Working with the Rotary Kolhapur Movement, members held a Blood Donation Camp at Rotary Samaj Seva Kendra (RSSK). The camp collected more than 70 pints of blood, which will help patients across Kolhapur hospitals. Few projects create impact as fast and as direct as a blood donation drive.

The club also marked Doctor’s Day and held its first weekly meeting, where Dr. Unmesh Panvelkar from Mumbai spoke about healthy living, sleep, and diet.

7 to 9 July 2026: New Members and Bigger Goals

On 7 July, the club welcomed new members through an orientation program. Senior members explained the history of Rotary, the Rotary Foundation, and what it means to serve the community.

On 9 July, Past Rotary International Director A S Venkatesh visited two of the club’s long-running projects: Kamlakar Nevgi Karnabadhir Shishu Vidyalay, a school for children with hearing difficulties, and Rotary Samaj Seva Kendra. He met students, reviewed the club’s work, and gave advice on how to grow these projects further.

That same day, the club held its formal installation ceremony. Rtn. Pradeep Pasmal and Rtn. Harshad Dhale took charge as this year’s leaders. The club inducted 14 new members and donated $4,025 to The Rotary Foundation and $1,000 to PolioPlus, Rotary’s fund to end polio worldwide. New members and strong funding mean the club can do more, lasting good in the years ahead.

12 July 2026: Planting Trees for a Greener Kolhapur

This was one of the month’s biggest environmental projects. Along with the Rotary Kolhapur Movement, the club planted more than 50 trees at RO-TREE, Kagal 5-Star MIDC. Trees planted today will clean the air and cool the region for decades. This is exactly the kind of long-term impact Rotary aims for.

The same day, members visited Shri Vidya Industries to learn how notebooks are made, and the youth wings of the club, Rotaract, Earlyact, and later Interact, held their own installation ceremonies. A growing number of young volunteers means Rotary’s work in Kolhapur will keep growing too.

19 July 2026: Learning from Nature

Rotary Club of Kolhapur, along with its Earlyact Club, took children to a paddy farm near Mathgaon. Kids learned about the Western Ghats, local plants, and how rice is grown, and got to plant rice themselves. The group also visited S K Jagadguru Vidyalay, a residential school in the same village, to see how it teaches students from Class 8 to Class 10.

Projects like this do more than entertain. They teach children to care about nature early in life, a small step that creates a lasting impact on how the next generation treats the environment.

26 July 2026: A Day That Helped Many

This was the most active service day of the month.

Seed Ball Distribution: Students from Radhabai Shinde English Medium School made seed balls, and the club spread them near Waghbil, on the way to Panhala, to help new plants grow in the wild.

Grocery Donation at Baalgram: The club donated 150 kg of groceries, including wheat, rice, sugar, and lentils, to support children living at Baalgram, Panhala. Basic needs like food make an immediate difference in a child’s daily life.

Club Governance: The club also held its first Board of Directors meeting and its first Club Assembly, where leaders planned the rest of the year, reviewed permanent projects like Antashayya and e-waste collection, and approved new members.

30 July 2026: Fighting E-Waste at the Source

The club ended the month by launching an e-waste collection project. A collection bin was installed at Nalanda School in Naga Park, Kolhapur, so students and families can safely dispose of old electronics instead of throwing them away. Rtn. Dr. Abhijeet Haval explained to students why e-waste is dangerous if handled wrongly, and Rtn. Shobha Arvind walked them through how the project works.

Small daily habits, like using this bin instead of a dustbin, add up to a lasting impact on Kolhapur’s environment.

Why This Matters: Creating Lasting Impact in Society

Every Rotary International district, including RID 3170, is working toward the same 2026-27 theme this year: Creating Lasting Impact. For Rotary Club of Kolhapur, that means projects that don’t stop at one event. A blood camp saves lives today. Trees planted in July will still be growing in 2040. A school e-waste bin will keep collecting waste long after this post is published. That is what lasting impact looks like in practice.
